Watercolor Landscape in Kyoto March 30 1989-September 16 1991
29 works by Masaaki Sugita field work (the unfinished watercolor 5002012 was missing)

I found the landscape for my art on the first day when I began to draw it, I thought intuitively that this is my art and way I should step out on. It was the end of March 1989, and it was the second challenge that I would be an artist. Everything was so beautiful under the sun light. I have been struggling with the challenge since then for 33 years. I donft think I am a professional artist as people recognize, but I am an artist by my active way of my art. My father died next year in 1990.
I wanted to be a professional artist, but I didnft think I would sell my watercolors at all from the first point. The problem was how I could paint the landscape in day time, because I had neither the saving nor any property to maintain my life. I had to deal with the problem turning the landscape painting and the money-earning work alternatively for months or year until the last work in 2004. I had already a plan to make the copper engraving prints which I began do in 1988 for the trial.
I had the 2nd solo exhibition by the landscape painting and the still life at the Gallery Inoda Kyoto 1991.
